Welcome to the party!

by Jenn on March 7, 2008

{{This blog is under construction, a new update about us page is coming soon! }}

Welcome to our little spot on the internet!

This is the week for The Ultimate Blog Party ’08
hosted over at 5 Minutes for Mom. Click to hop on over and visit other parties!

Make yourselves at home, grab a diet coke and feel free to look around the place.

We are a Southern California homeschooling family;
Jenny is the blogger and homeschool-mom,
Sky is resident principal, handyman/visionary, building inspector by trade (specializing in schools and hospitals) and farmer wanna-be. Our Children are; Meg 12-loves horses and plays the violin, Josie 11- plays the piano, paints and is very into The Warrior series, Demi-Sky 8- very into dragons, Wii and beginner skateboarder (also known as The boy wonder and Snackman) and Amie 6-inhouse personality, budding Irish dancer and always very “sewerious“.

This blog is mostly about our family, the things we find humorous, our homeschool adventures, homeschooling methods and books, our faith, our love of reading, travels and projects around the house.

Things around here are kind of scattered, kind of eclectic- a reflection of our house and
homeschool style.

In some ways, we are a typical Orange County family….and in many ways we are probably not.

We currently have 4 hens as pets, this one is Dapples- click on over to see her musings on a perfect day…
We also have a cat named Oliver and a guinea pig named Guinea-Guinea.

We joke that we are farmer wanna-bes…and dream sometimes of having a farm somewhere. But then we come back to reality and realize we are city folks…we love our Barnes & Nobles date nights,
our Indian food, our libraries and our days at the Skate park and Disneyland.

So glad to meet you! Drop a comment so I know you were here…
and stay and visit a while!

Oh, dh and I *adore* our Barnes and Noble date nights! No better place to be for two bibliophiles. Lol! :)

I have often wondered, how does that work keeping chickens in the city? Do they cluck and bother the neighbors? :)

Jenefer,

we are allowed to have a small flock, 6 or less hens, no roosters in our city. The hens are pretty quiet, except when they lay and egg, then they sing about it- which is still not as loud as a rooster. The neighbors find them very amusing, we have great neighbors that come over and feed them and lock them up at night when we are out of town.

Lovely family. I home schooled my children back in the day, and never regretted a moment of it.
Your blog title caught my attention. I couldn’t agree more!

Hi Jenny!

The family shot is wonderful, everyone is smiling so nice! And the one of the kids – what a happy, handsome bunch they are!

I smiled at your pet chickens along with your cat! That must be entertaining sometimes!

Thank you for opening your blog and it was nice to meet you!

Barnes & Noble is our favorite date place, too!
Lately we’ve had more than usual because as we travel on deputation, we often have an entire Sunday afternoon we need to “fill” between churches. And what better place than a B&N?!
We homeschooled our two all the way through. Enjoyed [almost] every minute of it! :-) Our son went on to graduate from Hillsdale College and our daughter is now at Grace College.
Having fun hopping around the blog party!

Hello! 4 hens in Orange County … I think that is great =)
I like B&N too – although we haven’t had a date night there. We may have to do that one time! LOL

I love that you have hens! I have some friends trying to convince us to get chickens on our farm and I have yet to take that on, so would love your opinion!

My sister homeschooled her 4 kids in CA for 10 years. They moved back to Minnesota several years ago–still homeschooling, now 6 kids!

Thanks for finding me! I'll be visiting!
