Romona Book love, {her turn}

by Jenn on June 10, 2011

I was close to Amie’s age when my love of reading took off.  Amie seems to have turned a corner, and is now devouring chapter books.  She started the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary and is now busy racing through the next ones.
I love, love, love seeing my children enjoy some of my own childhood friends.

Every time I turn around, I find her curled up somewhere different, nose buried deep into a Ramona book.

Are you wondering about the sequence for the Ramona Quimby books?

**Amie is 9, what books do your 8/9 year old girls love?  Any must reads?

    Great photo!!

    It's so great to see our kids enjoying not only reading but books that we loved! I am a children's librarian and so many adults have told me that they fell in love with reading because of Beverly Cleary and/or Judy Blume. (Judy Blume is for when they are a little older).

    My oldest daughter LOVES the Allie Finkle series by Meg Cabot ;-) and Ivy and Bean series.

    Theresa,

    thanks for the tip, I will check them out! I love, deeply,the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot, I think they are brilliant and the movie stunk. But, Anne Hathaway was a great Mia, even if her hair color was wrong..but the movie was so shallow.

    Oh, I started working in school with the remedial reading teacher and read Sign of the Beaver, Indian in the Cupboard, anything by Creech…this is the age group that I still love. My kids are kind of growing out of that stage…. I remember shivering under a blanket reading Little House snowstorm stories, and was sort of sad that none of my kids ever hit it off with that series…there's still time!!
    Have a good week!

    My 7 year old girl loves Ramona, too. I am delighted. She also enjoys the Bad Kitty series and Junie B. Jones.
